Wendy exploring one of the reinforced tunnels, called 'sally ports,' at Historic Fort Wayne. Constructed with massive reinforced brick walls, these gun emplacements were home to the fort's heavy cannon, and designed to withstand tremendous punishment from enemy attacks. The curved rails built into the floor were tracks that allowed the cannon to roatate and provided the guns with a wide angle of fire from each port.
